As more of us receive our COVID-19 vaccines, please remember the FAA’s vaccine guidelines for pilots and air traffic controllers.

For the first 48 hours after receiving each dose of your vaccine, “Federal Air Surgeon determined that FAA medical certificate holders may not act as pilot in command, or in any other capacity as a required flightcrew member.”

If you experience side effects after these two days, you are restricted from acting as pilot in command or as a flightcrew member until symptoms pass.

What is allowed?

  • Flight simulator training

  • Ground instruction or operational training not involved in flight operations

  • Administrative work

  • Dead-heading/jump-seating

  • Distance learning

For complete details related to post-vaccine observation, visit the FAA’s Vaccine FAQ or Coronavirus Guidance and Resources.
