Helicopter Rescues on the Rise

SoCal’s extreme heat this summer is particularly dangerous for hikers, leading to a warning by the U.S. Forest Service (and even some trail closures). The San Diego County Sheriff's Department has already conducted dozens of rescues this year alone.

NASA’s Mars Helicopter Found Cool Dirt

During its ninth flight, NASA’s Ingenuity Mars Helicopter served as an aerial scout and gathered long-term climate change data based on rock findings.

Fly with Lebanon’s Army (For a small fee!)

To offset costs amid extreme economic crisis, Lebanon is now selling 15-minute rides in their Robinson R44 training helicopter for $150.

Trailer for Helicopter Doc out Now

Whirlybird, an upcoming documentary chronicling Marika Gerrard and Zoey Tur’s helicopter reporting in Los Angeles during the ‘80s and ‘90s, just dropped its first trailer. The doc is scheduled for an August 6 release.

Precision Piloting Saves Trapped Horse

Yes, you read that right. After taking off during a trail ride in San Juan Capistrano, an unlucky horse found itself trapped, on its back, between slabs of concrete. Don’t worry, Orange County Fire Authority to the rescue! And yes, the horse IS alright.
