Surf's up, dudes! We're at peak season for some awesome SoCal surfing. You can’t experience California the right way if you miss out on this long-time staple! Thankfully, our OC Surf Spot Helicopter Tour takes you over Doheny State Beach, Blackies, The Wedge, and the fan favorite, Huntington Beach!

What makes this tour so special? This year’s U.S. Open of Surfing hits Huntington Beach from July 27 through August 4! Vans sponsors this annual surfing, skateboarding and BMX competition. If you’re looking to qualify for the World Surf League, competing in the world’s largest surfing competition definitely helps.

Athletes and beachgoers have flocked to Huntington Beach for this competition since 1959.  The Open has hosted surfing legends and pioneers including Kelly Slater, Layne Beachley, Corky Carroll, Joyce Hoffman and many more.

The legacy of Surf City USA extends much further than 1959, though. Huntington Beach’s first surfer George Freeth made jaws drop in 1914! In the ‘20s, the Father of Modern Surfing Duke Kahanamoku popularized the sport alongside two of the city’s first lifeguards Delbert “Bud” Higgins and Gene Belshe
